The aim of the course is to develop communicative skills in English (listening and reading comprehension as well as speaking and writing) at B1-B2 level. The students should, therefore, have studied this language at least up to A2 level. Also, the course aims to promote autonomous learning, self-assessment, and remedial work with the lecture. The general competencies of the course are: the development of the capacity for individual work, independent learning, organizational skills and time management; the development of interpersonal skills and the capacity for teamwork; the ability to design and manage projects and write high-quality presentations within a variety of work environments. The specific competencies of the course are: the acquisition of communicative and social competence in the English language (listening and reading comprehension, written and oral expression, communicative interaction and mediation, including grammatical and stylistic correction) at the B1+ towards B2 level of the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages; the ability to explain and present aspects from the field of physical education and sports; an awareness of the theoretical and practical aspects of the following disciplines in English: phonology, lexicology, morphology, syntax and discourse analysis. Students will concentrate on the theoretical and practical aspects of the English language; the ability to use tools, programs and software designed specifically for the study of the English language and the vocabulary specific to physical education and sports domain.
This course will consist of online meetings (which provide the opportunity to explain, practice, clarify and offer feed-back) combined with homework assignments, quizzes, and questions. In this way students will become little by little independent users of English, able to produce oral and written messages meant to prove a good vocabulary, grammar and discourse management.
